VRi in KOBA 2024: Reveals Latest KarismaCG3 and Karisma Studio Innovations
Visual Research Inc. announces its participation in KOBA 2024, South Korea’s representative international broadcast convention. The event will be held at COEX in Samsung-dong, Seoul, from May 21st to 24th. “KarismaCG3,” developed by VRi, represents the third installment in the Karisma series, which is a real-time 3D graphics solution designed for broadcasting purposes. This product has garnered popularity across more than 300 broadcasting sites over the course of the last two decades. The system primarily functions within newsrooms, election counting broadcasts, sports broadcasts, and weather news segments that necessitate precision and reliability. The interface optimized for real-time computer-generated graphics offers designers an ideal environment for creation. Operators benefit from the system’s operating stability, which has been demonstrated through years of accumulated expertise.
KarismaCG3 also implemented the PBR shading (Physically-Based Rendering), enhancing the visual experience for viewers by incorporating advanced rendering software effects. The software has the capability to edit and play out content in resolutions beyond 4K, up to 8K, and it also offers support for HDR 10-bit, marking the first instance of such support in the industry. At KOBA 2024, KarismaCG3 will present advancements in 3D graphics expression by introducing new features such as shadowing and rigging animation, aiming to provide audiences with an unparalleled visual experience.
Moreover, aligning with the requirements of the broadcasting platform has enhanced convenience and operational efficiency. Additionally, various features are in place to prevent broadcasting mishaps, thereby facilitating a more reliable broadcast.
“Karisma Studio” offers a comprehensive graphics solution designed for ultra-high-resolution video walls. Karisma Studio has the capability to modify the resolution based on the specific characteristics of the video wall. Depending on the configuration of the lineup, the resolution can reach up to 9,600 pixels (HX) or 15,360 pixels (UX) depending on the width. Karisma Studio is capable of not only playing back videos but also creating and displaying all graphics for broadcasting purposes. This includes text, videos, images, and 3D objects in real-time.
Another noteworthy aspect is the capability to employ up to 8 playout layers at HD resolution and 10 playout layers at 4K UHD, enabling a versatile layout of CG scenes on video wall displays or accommodating live inputs to enhance viewer engagement. Moreover, Karisma Studio has been designed to cater to the specific requirements of broadcast environments by ensuring stability, minimizing operational errors with an intuitive interface tailored for broadcasting, and facilitating integration with backup systems to mitigate risks during live broadcasts.
